Stallholder Enquiry

The Melbourne Showground Farmers’ Market (MSFM) runs every Sunday morning from 9am-1pm at Federation Pavillion at the Melbourne Showgrounds. Access is from Gate Seven Leonards Crescent  Ascot Vale

The market will re-locate on a number of occasions through the year  principally during the Royal Melbourne Show in September, and up to four other days at the direction of the Showground management

MSFM was established and managed by the Victorian Farmers’ Market Association (VFMA).

The purpose of the market is to:

  • create an income source for the association once the government funding runs out in 2010.
  • meet the huge feedback received at the VFMA Show stands in the last two years from local
  • residents for a market in their area,
  • a chance to demonstrate VFMA accreditation from the establishment of a market,
  • an opportunity for the large number of stallholders unable to get into existing city markets,
  • for training prospective managers/stallholders, and
  • establishing a ‘friends’ membership for the public.

Criteria for attendance will be strict for stallholders already attending farmers’ markets. The following will be high on the list of priorities:

  • accreditation (or accreditation application pending),
  • VFMA membership
  • supporting regional markets

MSFM will be held in and around the Federation Building which is accessed from Leonards Cres off Langs Rd, Ascot Vale. The facilities are extremely good with a large undercover structure for some stalls, water, power and all amenities immediately available. You will need to hold current Temporary Food Premises Registration from the City of Melbourne to participate if you are successful.

MSFM will set a high standard of environmental awareness. Stallholders will be responsible for their own rubbish, recycle and compostable removal. MSFM is be plastic bag free so stallholders will need to provide other bag alternatives.
