    Hello Everyone
It looks like a few people liked my rant in my Wednesday newsletter about the farmers markets verses the" big two" so I've re-published it here...

    Hello

Nothing is as Australian as Farmers markets. Did I hear someone say its our birthright to have only the best freshest seasonal produce on our plates. Not only that but the best and freshest Australian produce, No cheap Brazilan imports here, no huge air-miles as the big two freight in garlic from China and apples from New Zealand and everything else from everywhere else.

So take advantage and come along on Sunday to the Old Debeny Park school and show our farmers we love them !

heres a list of the stallholders

    Hello Everyone

Happy New Year. Yes we are back agaon refreshed from a short but summery break...unlike this week...We are back at the school which, as you all know, is now our permanent home. We are back with all your favourites, Redbeard Sourdough, Grand Ridge Beer ( because it IS still summer) Fresh oranges and juice, Raspberry ice-cream, and our regular meat suppliers. Jordan from grasser will also have some milk.  Unfortunately we have seen the last of cherries and apricots but we will have blueberries and strawberries which are still, happily in season.

    Hello

Yes I would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year from the Flemington Farmers Market.

The last half of 2011 was an eventful six months which saw the market move from the orginal location to the current Debney Park school site and change its name to really reflect the community it lives in.

We also experienced a steady growth in stall numbers, produce and customers and we look forward to continuing that growth in 2012.

    Hello

You might have noticed its getting noisy out there, Pre christmas sales, Street decorations, cheap food items flooding the supermarket, general parental panic... well relax  there is no need to panic about the market we will be here until the 18th December. You can buy great fresh produce with full confidence the fruit and veg will last more than three days, that you can pre-order a Christmas roast without worry that the shops will run out and you can be sure you are NOT buying inferior sale items pumped in from China.

    Hello

Yes its finally come ... our last move to Debney Park. From now on the school will be our permenent location and you will notice that slowly we will be changing the name of the market. Now that we are no longer at the Showgrounds it is misleading to use the name, so our name will change to reflect the community and we will be known as the Flemington Farmers Market.

    Hello

Well this is it, After months of to-ing and fro-ing, negotiating and cajoling, moving out and moving in we finally come to the end. This will be our last market at the Showgroungs EVER. ( I realise the brochure says we have a date in December but we have been told not to come) so this is it.

I have to say that for all its faults the Showgrounds had character ... or is that... for all is character the shed had faults... no one will miss the long queues for parking - but it was good in the rain.
